How To Transition To Non-Toxic Deodorant

How To Transition To Non-Toxic Deodorant

Do you want to transition your deodorant to something non-toxic but are overwhelmed? That’s how I felt when I started my search for a clean deodorant. I did not know where to start or how I would like using the products. Now that I have done all of that I have so much I can share with you!

Let’s jump right in!

1) You can get a reaction at first, but that can be avoided.

Not everyone will get a reaction when they switch but people can. The reaction will look like a rash or almost like razor burn. The best way to avoid this is to do a mask under your arms before you start using your non-toxic deodorant. The mask works like a magnet to help remove aluminum, impurities, and build-up from the underarm. Some good options are shows below!

2) It should be applied a little differently than your usual deodorant.

The fear everyone has with switching to nontoxic deodorant is that they are scared they will smell. If it isn’t applied correctly you can smell and no one wants that. The best way I have found to avoid this is to apply it twice a day. Morning and before bed. I also make sure when I apply it to my underarms are dry. No sweat or water left over from my shower (this also will come in handy for #3)

3) Try to avoid underarm stains.

Some deodorants can mark your white shirts which is literally the worst. The way I avoid this is to ensure my underarms are dry when I apply the deodorant. This is big for avoiding the marks. I will say that this isn’t always foolproof but it works for the most part.

4) Be patient

It can take your body a little while to adjust to the new deodorant so give it a little bit of time. Trust me it is worth it!

FOR AN AT HOME MASK TRY THESE! THEY ARE GREAT:

FOR AN AT HOME DETOXIFYING MASK TRY THIS RECIPE:

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Mix all of the ingredients in a glass bowl (do not use metal!) with a wooden or non-metal spoon until about the consistency of sour cream.

  • Spread in an even layer over the armpits and allow to sit for 5-20 minutes. I suggest starting slowly and working up to a longer period of time once you see how your body adjusts. If it hurts at all, remove immediately.

  • This may cause some redness as it will increase blood flow to the area, but it will go away quickly.

  • Wash off in the shower or with a warm, wet washcloth.

  • Repeat daily or as needed until natural deodorant is non-irritating.
